Gone it seems are the days when people get excited about sleeve designs, lyrics and the hidden little gems you often find in the linear notes. Gone are the days when my mates and I used to spend literally hours in record shops, flicking through records, chatting to the staff about music and trying to find the next awesome thing. Gone also, and perhaps most importantly I think, are the days when music told stories.

Until In Rainbows, I was what you could call a half-hearted Radiohead fan. As most others had done, I’d loved The Bends and OK Computer in the past, but had never really given the band as much time as I should have. In Rainbows caused me to buy tickets for the tour, and since seeing the band I regret not listening them more over the years.

I’ve only been a Weezer fan for a few years, and to be honest if you told me a few years ago that I’d be into them now I’d have probably laughed at you. After all, Hash Pipe was the song everyone recognised them by at the time. But I’ve since developed a special place in my ears for their simple, catchy, poppy and sometimes beautiful songs.
